Elections Dates and Information

In 2024, there are 3 State Elections scheduled:

  • Tuesday, March 5, 2024 = Presidential Nomination Primary (PNP) election
  • Tuesday, August 13, 2024 = State Primary election
  • Tuesday, November 5, 2024 = State General election

Presidential Nomination Primary (PNP) election is a partisan election that allows voters to identify with a major political party, and let that party know which candidate they want to see their party nominate as their candidate for Presidential office on the November General election ballot. In Minnesota, there are 3 major political parties: the Legal Marijuana Now Party, the Republican Party, and the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party.

State Primary Election is a partisan election that allows voters to choose which candidates from their party they desire to appear on the November General election ballot for offices other than United States President.

State General Election is a non-partisan election, meaning voters are allowed to vote for any candidate they feel best represents them without having to vote along party lines. In addition to federal and state offices, this election typically includes local county, city, township, school district, and soil & watershed officer elections.
