Minnesota Title Transfers



Seller's Responsibilies:
  • All owners (sellers) must sign where indicated on the front of the title.

  • The seller must provide a date of sale where indicated on the front of the title

  • The seller must provide an odometer (mileage) statement where indicated on the front of the title.

  • The seller must complete the damage disclosure statement on the front of the title.

  • If any secured parties (lien holders) are listed on the title, the seller(s) must provide a lien release from each of the lenders listed.

  • For motorcycles, the seller must write the engine number on the front of the title.

  • For mobile homes, the seller must provide a form from the county where the home was located stating that all taxes have been paid and there are no delinquent taxes due.


Buyer's Responsibilities
  • All buyers must fill out the buyer name and address section and sign where indicated on the front of the title.

  • Buyer(s) must fill out the application on the back of the title. Insurance information is not required and may be left blank.

  • If money was borrowed to purchase the vehicle, the buyer(s) must provide complete name and address of lien holder(s) and date of loan. If no money was borrowed, check "No" for the question on security interests.

  • All buyers must sign the application on the back of the title.
