Uniform Commercial Code (UCC)

Code Defined

The Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) applies to any transaction intended to create a security interest in personal property. This interest can be viewed as a lien on personal property. Information is provided on these records to the lending community for the purpose of determining loan agreements.

Central Notification System

The Central Notification System (CNS) is a method for buyers of farm products to receive information about outstanding liens against farm products that they buy.

Central Filing System

Minnesota has a central filing system for UCC’s and CNS's and are no longer filed on a county level. Please visit the Minnesota Secretary of State website for more information.
